I Need

I never thought I would actually be NEEDING a bar cart, but I have found myself searching high and low for the perfect one.  Chris and I love to BBQ and eat on the roof deck of our building but getting all the food and everything else up there is a big pain.  A cart is the perfect solution but finding the perfect combination of stylish, practicality and economical is proving to be difficult.

Love the look of this one, but how many times can we take it up to the roof before it falls apart.
Cute, very practical for outdoors and grilling but it wouldn't look too great with the rest of our furniture.

I don't have to worry about getting this one dirty but it doesn't hold much and at $1,100, that is just crazy!!

This one is genius! IT FOLDS but can't they make it cheaper than $902

This may be the winner. If I can find it at the outlet the price will be perfect and the wheels look sturdy enough to make the trips up and down all summer long, plus it's pretty.

True Love

If you know me well then you know I LOVE to take a bath. It is one of my most favorite things to do. My favorite type is the claw-foot, I don't think I have actually taken a bath in one but there is just something so charming about its style. Here are few tubs and rooms I wouldn't mind coming home to everyday.

Loving this bathroom the most. It's perfect with the crystal chandelier, the window above the tub and the mantle for me to put all my fancy smancy bath salts and candles on.

Loving the all-white and slanted ceiling.

Loving the windows! Nothing better than natural light.

I don't normally like super modern but I love how Hayon Studio took a traditional style and turned it modern, plus I love the holder for your flowers.

Sweet Monday

Thank you Cakes by Carolyn for making me such a beautiful wedding cake. I am still in awe that it made it into this month’s issue of Washington Brides.

The text reads;
" This bride wanted the cake to match her gown, but she didn't want anything too girly" says Carolyn Buschmeier of Cakes by Carolyn, in Centreville, Va. "Rather, she requested something stylish and unique'. She brought in magazine photos of cakes she liked, which helped guide me in the right direction. I love the pop art feel of the end result. The gumpaste flowers are traditional, but their unique shape and the patterned tiers give the design a contemporary edge."

Picnic tonight

I'm loving the idea of this hip picnic basket. Tonight Chris and I are going to Wolf Trap to see G. Love & Special Sauce perform. We will be sitting on the lawn and having a picnic, I'm afraid though we our food won't be served out of a cute box but instead a Harris Teeter bag.

Wedding Gifts

So what do you get the bride and groom that has no registry?

That was the big question today when I was wondering around Crate and Barrel. In the end I think I put a really cute wine and cheese gift theme together. The idea started last night when we had a few couples over for a BBQ and cards.  We used one of our favorite wedding gifts, a cheese board and cheese knives from CB. While wondering CB I found this really cool one with hammered metal handles and matching knives. To complete the gift I threw in some fun things and something very practical, a wine cooler

Our cheese board after many hours of eating and drinking.

Happy Birthday Tatiana

Happy 30th Tatiana!!!!

I hope you are enjoying your Birthday in Miami.

Crab Feast

Sunday afternoon could not have been more perfect. Ranchel was in town and planned an amazing crab feast with crab coming from the famous DC Wharf . We had it all, perfect weather, great beer and of course great friends. These tools from CB did a great job helping us get every last bite. Thanks girly for a great afternoon!

I've known these girls for years... it's hard to believe we will be celebrating our 10 year high school reunion soon, and yes girls you will be there.

*******UPDATE*****

I would like to give a shout out to two people who brought some amazing things to the party. First my husband for picking some kick ass beer.

And second to Ashley who made an AWESOME dessert fruit pizza.

Beth and John

Last week as I mentioned before we had two weddings, the second one was the marriage of Beth and John in Chicago.  Chris and I were so happy we were able to be there to help them celebrate, as you can imagine it was quite a weekend as we flew in the same day as the wedding. Both Beth and John  are architects which made the wedding really unique, her flowers were amazing and really different.
The reception was held in Lincoln Park at Cafe Brauer, which was absolutely gorgeous.  Above each table they had branches hanging from the ceiling with flowers and candles hanging from the branches, at night the whole place glowed.  For our favor each place setting had a small box of Frango chocolates.  Chris and I had a wonderful time dancing the night away. Congratulations Beth and John, cheers to a life time of happiness.
