Ghosts!
I love these brownie pops from Williams-Sonoma but at $4.33 a piece I don't think so. I've thought about making my own but still not sure how do it. As a compromise I was thinking of stealing the idea below from Godiva, chocolate covered strawberries are so much easer to make.

Autumn is here
Autumn has arrived in DC and I'm loving the cool crisp air blowing in my hair. While in NYC I spotted this arrangement outside of Ralph Lauren, I thought it looked so organic and simple and something that anyone could recreate... I might try something similar on my balcony, but of course way smaller.

Look Up
Sometimes we are so focused on what's ahead we forget to look at what's right in front of us or for this matter, what's above us. On a hunt for the best fish taco at Toloache I also discovered a beautiful ceiling. My first year architecture professor told me something that I have never forgotten, and that is, you can judge a firm 100% by the type of ceiling they have. So don't be surprised if you catch me taking a sneak peak of what's above.
Oh and the fish tacos were one of the best we've had, we just wish they served 3 instead of 2. Chris rates these a 4 1/2 out of 5

Happy Friday
The one thing I wanted to do in New York was see the waterfall exhibit so Chris arranged we take a boat tour that passed by them. The entire weekend we had amazing weather which made the boat tour even better. It was great seeing NYC from the water, it's a whole different perspective.
I really wanted to take our Christmas card photo infront of the falls but then half way there I realized what shirt Chris was wearing, oh well, I still love him and all his geek shirts, we will have to pick a different photo for the card.

Loving my knockoff
Theirs
Mine
I couldn't even think of paying $50 for a feather wreath so I made my own out of 2 black feather boas and a floral metal frame. With this coupon from Michael's I spent a total of $13.20. Oh and I don't think Chris is going to let me paint the front door orange.
First Stop
I have tons to share from our NYC trip but I thought I would start with our trip to L'Oreal, where my best friend Ranchel works. She actually works for SkinCeuticals, which is one of their European products. I got a huge kick out of the fact that her locked cabinet above her desk was filled with cosmetic products, how cool is that. I also loved that my company name on my visitor pass read "Architect" yes people even though I don't have a job, I'm still an architect! She also slipped me a bottle of this product, if I knew what it did I would tell you... something about preventing more skin damage... apparently freckles are the result of major skin damage.

New York City
We are heading to New York City tomorrow for our 1 year wedding anniversary, I can't believe how time flies. We picked New York because we wanted to see the New York City Waterfall project. We loved seeing The Gates so much we felt we couldn't pass this one up. I can't wait to take some awesome photos and enjoy the weekend with my wonderful husband.

The sun always shines
So remember yesterday when I said it was going to be rough, I really had no idea how rough. Yesterday I got laid off from my job.....it was painful, I wasn't the only one but for some reason that didn't make it any better, maybe worse. Today is a new day for me, a new chapter will be opened and a new adventure is about to start. I look forward to what the future brings and like they say....."Everything happens for a reason" so for that I'm excited to see what that reason brings me, stay tuned.

Canning is making a come back!
Or at least for me. Last weekend I made applesauce and apple butter, I think this is going to now become an annual thing for me, I made it last year for the first time but didn't know how to can it. This year I made sure to be prepared and bought a canning kit from Target. It's also important you have a food fill to grind the apples, if you are interested in making your own here is the recipe I used, making the applesauce is easy, the apple butter takes a bit more time so give your self plenty of time. Have fun!

Fun Faces
Having a hard time getting over hump day? Go to this site and have a great laugh. I saw this on Something old, Something New today and I thought it was hysterical. I think I should have gone to school in the 60's, I liked those photos the best, also notice I stayed away from the 80's.
Classy Halloween
Chris and I have decided to have a Halloween Bash, and it's my goal to keep it as classy as possible. As a color test for the party I bought these orange roses yesterday at the metro for $5, I think they will work perfect for halloween.
*** Update... since my sister thinks that's lame I wanted to clarify that it will still be very spoooooky and have a halloween feel, it just won't be cheesy halloween.
