Elise and John - Stone Manor Country Club

When I found out Elise had a sister name Laura I knew she was destined to be one of my brides.  My favorite part of this wedding was Elise's bouquet, she asked for an asymmetrical unique bouquet with feathers to match her dress.  Although I was a little worried about how it would turn out I had so much fun creating it knowing it was going to be something very special and unique.

Elise and John got married in early May at Stone Manor Country Club in Middleton Md and all photos were taken by Genevieve Leiper Photography.

Kate and Steve - Oatlands Wedding

I've known Kate for awhile, we have a mutual friend who was a bridesmaids in this wedding.  Knowing I was in the wedding industry Kate came to me for advice on outdoor venues and I told her hands down that Oatlands Plantation was my favorite.  She took my advice and booked her wedding for Labor Day weekend.  I then held my breath and prayed it didn't rain for her, as this location doesn't have a good back up plan.  Although it did rain a little you wouldn't know it from these photos taken by Katie Stoops

Floral Hair Pieces

I often have brides request a single flower or orchid to wear in their hair, like the one below I did for a recent June Bride.  I think this look is simple and stunning but it seems like larger more dramatic floral head pieces are making a come back, for better or for worse, the verdict is still out for me.

This month the Chapel designers challenged us all to design a floral head piece and blog about it.  Lucky for me a local photographer,  contacted me last month to provide a floral halo for her model to wear for an outdoor vintage photo shoot.  Although I'm not convinced this look will start making a come back in bridal wear I still would love to see more brides wearing flowers in their hair.

The floral headpiece below was made from Israeli ruscus, ivy and white and purple spray roses

Lindsey and Anant- Morais Vineyards and Winery

Lindsey's mom and my mom are great friends, they use to work together and I first met Lindsey years ago when our moms signed us up to walk a 5k for their company, soon after that walk I learned that Lindsay was moving to Seattle, Washington to go work for the Bill Gates Foundation. Anant also worked for the Foundation and lived in Seattle but it was't until they were both in India on a business trip that they really hit it off.  I guess they say the rest is history.

This was my first Indian Catholic wedding.  I was excited to take on the challenge but nervous how it would be perceived by the Indian community.  The wedding was held at Morais Vineyard and Winery so a lot of wine inspired decor was also incorporated into the wedding.

Instead of corsages for the mothers and grandmothers, everyone had a custom hair flower.

Bouquets were made of super green roses, green trick, white ranunculus, mini green hydrangea, green cymbidium orchids, aspidistra leaves and peacock feathers.

Lindsey's sister styled each table with found objects that went with the wine theme.  She told me which vases she wanted filled with flowers and the rest she did all her self.
