Got side tracked

I had to look up the address of this photographer for my day job and I couldn't resist looking through his entire portfolio. A few of my firms projects are under architecture but of course I fell in love with a few under Home + Garden

Getting Antsy

I've been getting very anxious about spring and planting flowers and today's snow storm was a gentle reminder that it is still a ways away.

To get me in the mood for spring last month I went to American Meadows and ordered a whole bunch of spring bulbs.  While at the site they were having a huge sale on Paperwhite Narcissus Bulbs and I couldn't resist. They are now in full bloom and smell great!

I also want to point out my cupcake calendar, which was a great birthday gift.  If I can make it to the store I might make the suggested mini baked cheesecakes. Yumm.

Autumn is here

Autumn has arrived in DC and I'm loving the cool crisp air blowing in my hair. While in NYC I spotted this arrangement outside of Ralph Lauren, I thought it looked so organic and simple and something that anyone could recreate...  I might try something similar on my balcony, but of course way smaller.

Apple Picking is FUN!

Aimee wanted to make an apple pie and I wanted to make apple sauce so we came up with this crazy idea on Saturday night that we would go apple picking at Tarara Winery the next day. We could not have picked a more perfect day, the weather was amazing!!!

A cute little baby one!

Yes the boys did more eating than picking.

The boys found this big guy and were playing chicken with it.

$12 for a "peck"

Of course we couldn't leave a winery without having some WINE!!!!

Our gorgeous apples that will soon be turned into apple sauce and apple butter. YUM

Dreaming

I'm dreaming of the day when I have a beautiful garden just like this one from cottage living.

I love this city

These tulips are planted in Washington Circle, which is on my way to and from the Metro. We are moving offices next week and I will no longer pass by this circle, I really hope that by Friday they will be in full bloom.

My little sunshines

This week has been crazy for me, on Saturday I worked a full day and the only thing that kept me going was the thought of driving by my old house to see the beautiful magnolia tree in bloom and my little sunshines (daffodils) that I planted 2 years ago. The planter looked a little rough but it brought me such joy knowing that there was still a little part me left in the city.

Spring is coming!

This is a photo taken today infront of my old house. I drove in today because there was no HOV and I could park free on the street. It just so happened that I found a spot near my old place (the yellow room) In the Fall of '06 I planted a whole bunch of daffodills in the tree pit infront of the house. Last spring it brought me such joy every morning when I came out and saw them. I was very surprised this morning when I saw most of them were starting to come up. I will have to return in a month or 2 and take a photo when they are all in full bloom.
